Kevin Costner’s New Western Announcement Bombarded With Angry Comments Over Yellowstone Departure
Kevin Costner shared a tease of his new Western movie Horizon, but all fans want is him to return to Yellowstone.
Kevin Costner caused a huge upset by stepping away from the Yellowstone franchise earlier this month, and it seems that fans are still unforgiving of his decision. The fallout of the actor’s departure from Paramount’s popular series could well end up impacting his new project, Horizon, which itself is an epic Western movie series. As Costner celebrated his new project with a post on Instagram, the comments section was bombarded with fans angry at the way his Yellowstone journey has ended and the fact that Costner is now keen to promote his own project in the same genre.
There seems to be many reasons why Kevin Costner decided to hang up his Yellowstone stetson, and while the franchise is continuing in other forms, there are many fans who are now abandoning the actor’s new project in the same way they feel he abandoned them. Costner shared an image of a director’s chair with the title Horizon written across it. With the image he said:
“We’re deep into the production of #HorizonFilm, and, I have to tell you, I haven’t felt this way about a movie since we were making Dances With Wolves. Can’t wait to share it with all of you.”

Of over 1000 comments made on the post, it doesn’t take long find that while there are some people who are excited to see Costner’s new movie venture, which will be truly epic in scope and put even his 90s movie Dances With Wolves in the shade, there are many who just want him to finish the Yellowstone story right. Some of the comments made in response to the post read:
“Are you going to get us hooked and then fade away as you did in Yellowstone. Afraid to enjoy a movie your in as much as I did to be left hanging. Seems like it was to hell with the viewers. Could of stuck it out for your fans. However I do enjoy your movies. Just feel like ya let us down without a thought. So can’t say I’ll be watching it. Maybe in the future. Just not yet.”
“So not interested used to love your work at Yellowstone but you copied Taylor Sheridan and now you loose your family and your show that got you an Emmy priorities all wrong.”

Kevin Costner’s Yellowstone Drama Has Lasted For Months
The first rumors of Kevin Costner parting ways with the Yellowstone franchise began to circulate back in February. Over the following months, the stories of a rift between the award-winning actor and Yellowstone creator Taylor Sheridan, a breakdown of Costner’s marriage and the possibility of Matthew McConaughey coming to the franchise to take over as the lead star grew until everything was confirmed at the beginning of May.
Costner will now stay on until the end of the fifth season of Yellowstone, but whether that holds is yet to be seen with the star having clearly set his new priorities with his own movie. As well as Horizon, Costner is also sticking with the Western genre to host and narrate Kevin Costner’s The West for The History Channel. None of this however, seems to be a consolation for Yellowstone fans, who clearly have a long way to go before being fully on board with the actor’s new projects.
